Tell me a bit about yourself: I am a buyer for an Independent fabric store so I really love independent patterns. I have been sewing apparel for about 3 years and I am completely self-taught. I love learning new skills and trying different pattern companies to learn new techniques and try out different styles.
What In the Folds size do you wear? (Very few of us fit into a pattern straight out of the envelope. You can choose as many of these as you need). : Size B
What bust cup size do you normally make / wear?: A cup
Which pattern did you use?: The Acton dress
What type of fabric did you make the garment/s from?: Rayon Challis
What alterations (if any) did you make to the pattern/s?: SBA (small bust adjustment), keyhole back, lengthened skirt, mixed View B bodice with View A top
If you made this pattern/s again, would you do anything differently?: Absolutely loved the pattern! I would probably need more width in the back if I wanted to insert the invisible zipper as the pattern directs.
What would be your top tip for other makers using this pattern/s?: Be patient. Follow each direction step by step. And definitely, make a muslin! Also, get a friend to help when you try on your muslin to make sure the back fits correctly.
I'd love to hear about a happy memory from when you made or wore this garment or garments!: I wore this to a close friends wedding and it was so special to be in a dress I made. It felt so professional and I loved how the fit made me feel confident and comfortable. It was also adorable because my husband kept telling everyone I made my dress...I think he was more proud of it than I was!
What do you love most about In the Folds patterns?: They are so thorough. The online sew-along helped a ton too!
